6th Asian-Oceanian Congress of Clinical Neurophysiology (AOCCN)

November 9 – 12, 2017
Bengaluru, India

Early Registration Deadline Exended to July 31st, 2017 || Abstract Submission Will Open Soon.

Mark Hallett, President

International Federation of Clinical Neurophysiology (IFCN)

Clinical Neurophysiology plays a variety of roles in medicine. Well done clinical neurophysiological testing can improve our ability to make the right diagnosis in our patients. Moreover, research using clinical neurophysiology extends our knowledge of neuroscience and disease – including helping to develop new diagnostic and therapeutic methods. As with all fields of medicine, clinical neurophysiology is advancing, and it is important to be up to date to practice at the highest level.

The 6th AOCCN is a chance for the neurologists and physiologists of the Asian-Oceanian region to get together, to promote education and share new findings. Of course, there are the International Congresses of the IFCN, the next in Washington, DC in May 2018, but the Chapter meetings are “local”, usually easier to get to, and also in some ways more focused on problems in the region. In this regard, the Asian-Oceanian Chapter cares for the largest number of patients than any other Chapter, sees a slightly different spectrum of disease, and its members generally have less time to see each patient.

The IFCN ExCo is looking forward to participating in the 6th AOCCN. We want to make sure lines of communication are open and to find ways that the IFCN can help the National Societies and its members. Bengaluru is a thriving city in India, the center for Information Technology as well as a tourist destination for sightseeing. I look forward to meeting each of you there.

Ryusuke Kakigi, President

Asia-Oceania (AO) chapter of IFCN

This is a welcome message to all colleagues and friends, not only in Asia and Oceania, but also throughout the world. The Sixth Asian and Oceanian Congress of Clinical Neurophysiology (6th AOCCN) will be held in Bengaluru, India from November 9-12, 2017.

As every clinician and researcher knows, clinical neurophysiology is very important not only in clinical medicine but also as a basic research field. In addition, neuroscience, particularly neuroimaging studies, is one of the hottest topics among all the scientific fields.  Therefore, many young clinicians and researchers have recently become interested in this academic field. India is an enigmatic and fascinating country with an incredibly long history. There are many places we should visit, including 35 world heritages sites. On top of this, recent progress in terms of the economy as well as science has been noted throughout the world. Bengaluru is a symbol of modern India. Since there are many universities, IT companies, and high-technology factories, Bengaluru is frequently called “Silicon Valley in India”.

Since the first AOCCN was held in Beijing, China, back in 1996, The AO chapter has made sure and steady progress by increasing the number of constituent countries and members. I hope that many members of the AO chapter will participate in this congress and continue to promote active mutual relationships between the societies of the AO chapter.

President, AO Chapter of IFCN
